WINELANDS
Many contemporary explorers regard these as the worlds most beautiful winelands. The historic charms of graceful Cape-Dutch gables and Victorians verandahs, the modern attractions of glamorous restaurants and internationally acclaimed wines, the allures of the great outdoors, wilderness areas and beaches; all combine to make Cape wine country a visitor’s delight.
Since 1997 a prestigious “internationalization” of Cape wines have occurred. Zelma Long and Plul Freese of California have entered into a joint vineyard venture with Michael Back of Backsberg Wine Farm. The Monseix family of Pomerol have bought a vineyard at Somerset-West. Many other such ventures can be mentioned.
Vineyards; The wine and spirits industry in South Africa is a very important part of the agricultural sector. There are 4500 grape producers with 103 000 ha. under vines. This ranks South Africa 20 th in the world. The average size of the country’s harvest is around 900 million litres ranking it 7th in the world. Exports of South African wine nearly doubled in 1994 to 50 million litres from 23 million in 1991 and doubled again to 100 million litres in 1996.
Viticulture contributes about 30% to the total income from horticulture in the Western Cape. It also ensures a very visible presence of South Africa in international markets.
It is with this and the international interest in the Western Cape Wine Industry that we invite you to get in touch with us and we will find you the farm after your desire.

The vineyards of this estate extend along the slopes of the mountain, facing south towards the Atlantic Ocean.
